I find it very strange that Chillingworth is taking such interest in the personal and private life of Dimmesdale. Dimmesdale has every right to be suspicious of everyone and will not share any information with them. The fact that Chillingworth believes that the plant is a sign of someones unconfessed sin is just absurd! People will believe anything that is told to them. What I do not understand is why Chillingworth is trying to get revenge on Dimmesdale. He is playing mind games with him making it more terrible for Dimmesdale. Although Dimmesdale is being "tortured" his sermons are more powerful than ever, being mostly about sin. He also starts hurting himself, physically. This brings me to question, "What has he done to hurt his conscious so much that brings him to this point?" I sure hope that Dimmesdale can get past this phase he is having and can be his normal self soon.
Please Apply So We Can Reject You! by Lynn O'Shaughnessy
College Entrance Advice Reviews 10/19/14 The two articles I read were very interesting and actually extremely helpful. The first article “Please Apply So We Can Reject You!” is about colleges and applying for them. Most students are too naive and apply to ivie colleges. The article explains how ivie colleges only accept the top ten percent of the class. They send out generic letters to spike the interest of students and put false hope into their heads. Students should be more realistic in their college choices and the ones that they apply for. The second article I read was really interesting to me. It is called “Dealing With Junior Year Stress.” This article was about the load that juniors take on. Being a junior, I can really relate to this article. It goes on to explain how it is essential to stay focused and “get the job done.” Being independent it a key trait that every junior should have. Both of the authors use reality check to get their points across. They talk about generalized ideas about high school students, colleges, and parents and then explain what should really happen or what is actually happening. Randi Mazzella, I feel, was more personal compared to Lynn O’Shaughnessy. I say this because she has three kids and is more specific about the feelings that the kids have. Lynn O’Shaughnessy is very professional because she is very specific about which colleges she is talking about and uses statistics and graphs to support herself. MLA Citations Mazzella, Randi. Dear Blog,
My name is Ross Pyle. Being the judge of the town, I am a very responsible man. I am thirty-five years old and I have a brother, a wife, a dad, and a son. My brother's name is Grant Pyle. Grant is thirty-six and is still living the bachelor life, getting all the ladies. He is the Sheriff of the town and is a very powerful man. My wife's name is Lana Berg but, when I married her at the age 18, she was added to the Pyle. One day at the market I saw a beautiful lady drop her apples. I helped her pick them up and we instantly fell in love. A year later we had a son. His name was Levi. When he was born I said "Another one to add to the Pyle!" My wife spends her day raising and protecting our child. Levi, my son is sixteen years old. He is going to school and getting a great education. My mom Helga died giving birth to me. My dad's name is Russel Pyle. At sixty years old, he is still working hard. He has been farming tobacco and is still farming tobacco. When he was sixteen he moved to America from Europe to create a new life, that is where he met my mom. In Europe he also farmed tobacco. We are a very respected and powerful family in this community. |
